Vinted Shoppers Express Frustration Over Size Updates

Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Digital Channels Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.

The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Changes

Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Service Background

The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
