Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
